Designing to Inspire Joy

For us here at LD & Co., one of our underlying goals is to design our clients’ model homes to inspire joy and happiness. We know that if a buyer feels happy while visiting a model they will want to stay longer. And, the longer they stay, the more they will want to buy. (We’re sneaky that way.) Read more about how we design to inspire joy.

Do you Speak Interior Design?

Every industry has it’s own industry-specific lingo. Interior design is no exception. And, if you are a builder, architect, or in any way involved in the building industry and work with interior design professionals, you should be familiar with many of the terms and concepts used. Increased understanding will result in better and more effective collaborations.

Finding Design Inspiration in Unlikely Sources

It can be fun to follow celebrities on Instagram for their sense of style or decorating choices. Or, let’s be honest, just to see what they are wearing. However, surprisingly, there are some great celebrity Instagram profiles that offer real design inspiration.Architectural Digest compiled a nice list of design-inspiration-worthy celebrity Instagram accounts that are definitely worth checking out.

For even more inspiration, Dwell has put together a comprehensive list of interior designers from all over the world. There are many gorgeous, inspirational designs to view.

And while you are in the Instagram sphere, be sure you’re following our Instagram account as we’ve really upped our Insta game of late.

Eat, Drink, and Laugh Your Way into Fall

September 23 was the Autumnal Equinox, or first day of fall in the Northern Hemisphere. Did you know the exact date of the equinox changes every year? Or that you can balance an egg on it’s side on the equinox? (Actually you can do that every day of the year.) There is more to the Equinox than you may realize.

Eating

Contrary to popular belief there is more to love about fall than the return of all things pumpkin spice. While we are seeing pumpkin spice turn up seemingly everywhere, there is still some sanity to be found. Bon appetit’s online magazine recently published a list of 60 delectable autumn inspired recipes (and there is hardly any pumpkin anything listed).

Drinking

As  the wise Dr. Seuss once said, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” We encourage you to not mourn the loss of enjoying drinks by the pool. Instead, smile because as the weather turns cool, you can warm up with a Slow Cooker Caramel Apple Cider or perhaps a Sage-Fig Cocktail. For more smile-worthy fall cocktails, click here.

And Being Merry!
