We believe that great design goes beyond creating beautiful spaces, it’s about building stronger communities. As an award-winning interior design and model home merchandising firm based in Colorado, we’re passionate about making a positive impact both in the homes we design and in the world around us.

That’s why Lita Dirks, our CEO and Principal, proudly encourages every team member to take up to 8 hours of paid volunteer time each quarter. This benefit allows our employees to support causes close to their hearts without sacrificing their workday, embodying our commitment to community service and work-life balance.

This year, our team has embraced volunteering in meaningful ways, from family-oriented projects to events supporting vulnerable children and resilience in the face of tragedy. We’re thrilled to celebrate a few of these inspiring stories!

Nicole Gilbert: Crafting Comfort for Little Warriors

Nicole recently teamed up with her son’s school for a heartwarming project: making cozy fleece tie blankets to donate to Children’s Hospital. These handmade blankets bring warmth and comfort to young patients during tough times. Nicole even shared a sweet photo with her son, capturing the joy of giving back together as a family.

Cassy Weber: Supporting Education at Her Son’s School

Cassy Weber, our Director of Design, dedicated her volunteer time to her son’s school. While details are personal, her efforts highlight how our team loves contributing to educational environments that nurture the next generation—much like the thoughtful, livable designs we create for families every day.

Michaela: Helping Families at the HomeAid Builders for Babies Diaper Drive

Michaela volunteered at the HomeAid Colorado Builders for Babies Diaper Drive on June 20th. This annual event, organized by the homebuilding industry, collects diapers and wipes for families experiencing hardship or homelessness. It’s a powerful way to address “diaper need” and support parents in keeping their babies healthy and happy.

Susan: Honoring Resilience at the STEM Center for Strength

Susan volunteered for the STEM Center for Strength on May 7th, an annual event commemorating the 2019 tragedy at STEM School Highlands Ranch. The Center provides free counseling, wellness programs, and support to promote recovery and resilience for the school community and those affected.

These stories are just a glimpse of how our team lives our values every day. From diapers to blankets to emotional support, Lita Dirks & Co. is proud to foster a culture of giving.

If you’re part of our team, we encourage you to use your paid volunteer hours—there’s no shortage of ways to make a difference! And to our clients and partners: thank you for supporting a company that prioritizes community alongside creativity.

Here’s to more impact in the year ahead!
